In addition to the rights of the victim to be informed and supported, the victim should be protected during the criminal proceeding as much as possible. In particular, repeated confrontations with the perpetrator, crime report and its descriptions should be avoided.
Questions regarding the private life of the victim are only allowed if they cannot be avoided in the process. In certain cases the public can be excluded from the courtroom while the victim is being heard. In certain cases even the accused can be excluded from the courtroom while the victim is being heard or the hearing of the victim can be performed by video-conference. In that case the victim does not even have to be near the courthouse. The hearing of minor victims can be video taped and the video can be presented in the trial.
