Right to protection and safety

Victims have the right to protection and safety in the criminal proceedings.

In particular, victims of crime must be protected from further threats or victimisation by the offender or third parties. The victim’s privacy must also be protected.

The EU-directive also demands the victim to be interrogated promptly following the report of the offence. The number of the interrogations have to be reduced to a minimum.
